Dillinja and Grooverider touch down in Canberra for a heavyweight Drum and Bass day party celebrating the true originators of the sound. After the huge success of our recent Hospital Records drum and bass party, one question kept coming up on the dancefloor and in the days that followed: when is the next D&B show? Well, here it is..... Friction returns with a landmark Drum and Bass event as we welcome two absolute ICONS of the culture to Canberra: Dillinja and Grooverider. These are not just headliners, they are originators. From the foundations of UK jungle through to the global explosion of drum and bass, Dillinja and Grooverider helped define a movement that has crossed continents, shaped generations of artists, and filled dancefloors for decades. Their influence is woven into the DNA of the scene, from pirate radio and warehouse raves to the world’s biggest festivals. This Sunday session at Hopscotch Bar is a rare opportunity to experience two pioneers of the sound in an intimate, high-energy setting. Expect heavyweight basslines, timeless anthems, and that unmistakable energy that only true masters can deliver. Supporting the internationals is a carefully curated lineup celebrating Canberra’s deep connection to drum and bass culture. Leading the charge is KAOS, one of the city’s original drum and bass DJs and turntablists, whose contribution to the local scene spans decades. He is joined by Eighty K, Cece, Killerbyte, and Kaliope, setting the tone from the outset and carrying the energy through the afternoon. When the sun goes down, we switch gears into House Party mode from 8 pm, with Clique, Mikah Freeman and Plain Zero keeping the dancefloor moving late into the night. This is a celebration of drum and bass in its purest form. Respect the roots, feel the bass, and be part of another special Friction moment with one of the best crowds in the country.
