Reptant lands at Haven Saturday, May 16 for a rare live set in collaboration with High Altitude. Hailing from Melbourne/Naarm, Reptant operates in the outer edges of electro, acid and breaks - raw, hardware-driven, shifting between weighty club pressure and left-field textures that tell a story of multidimensional amphibious space travel. “He makes dance music that sounds like the future as imagined in the ’90s: trance-inspired synth leads, sloshy acid basslines and well-oiled breaks”, Resident Advisor. Live set from dimensions here - Haven positions itself as a one-of-a-kind temporary venue where people can celebrate music and connect with their community before the building is inevitably redeveloped. The entire space is built entirely with salvaged materials; a nod to the space's transient nature. The impermanence of the space becomes part of its power, building urgency and turning each night of unique programming into a rarity. The venues story is also shaped by the history of the building. An old Woolworths site now being transformed into a venue for culture. The installation led by Oliver Buckworth, Katsu Yokoyama and Zelimir Harasty takes guests to a street scene in a densely populated city, where culture, sound and life overlap. There’s traces of Kowloon city, 80’s anime, Wong Kar Wai films and Tokyo listening bar culture. Tickets are limited and expected to move very quickly. Info on the artists below.
