About

Approaching its second year of live broadcast, it seemed only right that M5 celebrate its (surprising) longevity with a live show; an offering of appreciation for its growing pool of artists and collaborators. Hosted on Sunday nights on FBi Radio, M5 is a dedication to the Western-Sydney motorway, hosted by Gadigal Land/ Sydney based DJ and writer Killian. At its core M5 is an ode to dreamy memory rich sounds - songs that remind us of childhood and home, unconfounded to genre, pace or time. Oxford Art Factory welcomes M5 to its main room on Sunday 8 March from 5pm-1am, with a collection of its closest collaborating artists, and projects we’ve admired from afar. Takeo.K has just released their debut record ‘Home Is Everywhere and Nowhere at Once’ via Gadigal Land/ Sydney based label Theory Therapy, a presentation of dark, dub leaning, dream pop that feels signature to the artist's developed sound. Takeo.K’s music is at the center of the collections of NTS Radio hosts Ian Kim Judd and pi pi pi label boss Deep Creep, among others that cherish their work. Mike Midnight is ⅓ of trip-hop trio Trickpony, alongside former Boorloo /Perth artist Roza Ternzi and Gem K. Also known also for his poignant solo releases including ‘Angel Hours,’ does Mike Midnight join us for a live set, a cornerstone project which has long captured the attention of our community. Alias Error has returned home from Berlin, performing her signature dreamy shoegaze vocals and trip-hop sensibilities live. Alia has released features alongside downtempo’s best: James K, JASSS and Rip Swirl, with more to come. Gift Exchange is a Gadigal Land/ Sydney based three piece band, quickly becoming recognised for their dark, synth led productions and experimental ‘witch-house’, blending gothic alternative with moments of cutting edge electronica. Gi leads with forward thinking electronic productions and continues to platform the unexpected on her label World of Knots. Her debut album, ‘Thought Makes Music’ was released via Naarm/Melbourne based label Absorb in 2024. Taking a step back from live performance, Gi will showcase her widely admired taste, as a DJ on the night. Grasps is an live, experimental project with emotional tendencies, built over a decade of releases. Grasps will perform b2b with housemate and musician Dav, member of improvisational group String Club and on occasion, Daily Toll. Dav is also a fellow FBi Radio presenter. The night will feature interstitial performances from M5 founder and host, Killian and core contributors Sam Dover (DJ Penguin) and Finnlay Rees. https://www.fbi.radio/programs/m5 ____________________________________________We acknowledge that this event is held on the stolen lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
