MCR-T is the musical alias of Julian McCarthy, an artist who navigates the tension between high-energy club sounds and socially conscious expression. Born and raised in Berlin-Zehlendorf with Jamaican-American roots, Julian grew up between contrasting worlds, absorbing the layered identities of the city’s underground. While he first gained attention under the name MCNZI, known for razor-sharp bars and political urgency, MCR-T emerged as his dancefloor-facing alter ego: bold, charismatic, and unmistakably Berlin. His sound channels a raw hybrid of Miami bass, booty house, ghettotech, and hard techno—infused with the voice of someone who refuses to be overlooked. “I like to use my voice like a drum machine,” he explains. “It’s rhythm, power, presence.” Since joining the label LIVE FROM EARTH, MCR-T has become a staple in Europe’s club and festival circuit, performing at Berghain, EDC, Nuits Sonores, and Boiler Room. Beyond the decks, his collaborations with Partiboi69, DJ Gigola, and SixSex expand his sonic universe with humor, force, and intimacy. In the studio, MCR-T is prolific and hands-on. His 2024 album "NOT THE SAME ≠ (2024)" marked a post-pandemic shift: a crystallization of his approach to club music that celebrates both individuality and collective energy. Heavily influenced by 80s minimalism, 2000s internet aesthetics, and Berlin’s unfiltered rave culture, his sets are fast and relentless. Hangaren is located at a secluded green spot on Refshaleøen in central Copenhagen. We are here to present the city's vibrant electronic music scene. You will be treated with a heavy soundsystem by Lambda Labs. There is a cosy courtyard with chill-out possibility, a bonfire, big sky scenery from where you can watch the sunset, the stars and the sunrise. The bar serves organic beers, drinks at fair prices.
