First coming to prominence on Essential Selections Volume 1 with Theo Parrish on his Sound Signature label, Marcellus would swiftly become another quarter of the towering Three Chairs alongside Parrish, Kenny Dixon Jr. (Moodymann), and Rick Wilhite. Soon thereafter his own bespoke Unirhythm imprint was formed. A string of self-releases along with productions on Omar S’ FXHE throughout the early 00’s would quickly stamp his mark as an original producer with all the subtle mechanics to grip you. Pittman’s understanding of groove is crafty. He births raw as you like drum patterns and layers them up with weird and wonderful sonic details. His repertoire is full of gritty, lo-fi and spacious classics that don’t leave record bags the world over. Never resting, Pittman has plenty of other ventures on the go; outside of Three Chairs, he’s collaborated with Parrish and Omar-S as the T.O.M.
