Two generations. One shared love for house music. The Dutch are taking over Freeze Hi-Fi. Few DJs have left their mark on Dutch house music quite like ROOG. A driving force in the scene since the ’90s, his unmistakable sound, technical approach behind the decks and instinct for the dancefloor established him as one of the Netherlands’ most respected and enduring house DJs. Together with his brother Greg, ROOG formed Hardsoul, becoming instrumental in bringing soulful, Latin and groove-driven house to Dutch dancefloors. Hardsoul became the first Dutch act signed to Defected Records, while productions including Back Together travelled far beyond the Netherlands and became genuine house classics. His influence extended well beyond the studio. ROOG built an international career that took him to clubs and festivals around the world, while at home he continued to help shape Dutch house culture. Alongside Erick E he created Housequake, a partnership and concept that became one of the defining names of Dutch club culture, filling clubs, festivals and major venues for more than two decades. From Hardsoul and Defected to Housequake and countless dancefloors around the world, ROOG’s career has always been rooted in one thing: a deep understanding of house music and how it should feel on a dancefloor. Joining him at Freeze Hi-Fi is ALXS, a DJ and producer with more than 25 years behind the decks. Raised on Latin music, funk and soul and a percussionist from an early age, he discovered house in the late ’90s through artists including Masters At Work, Todd Terry, Olav Basoski and Hardsoul. After years behind the scenes working with ROOG, Housequake and Todd Terry, ALXS has increasingly stepped forward as a producer, with releases on Groove Culture, Phoenix Music and Cruise Music, most recently landing Rey del Mambo on Roger Sanchez’s Undr The Radr.
