Few people in music have moved as freely between worlds as Diplo. As a DJ, his sets are a master class in range — dancehall into house into hip-hop into pop, each transition feeling inevitable, none of it feeling accidental. As a producer, he has shaped the sound of some of the past two decades’ biggest records: working with M.I.A., Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and a generation of artists who trusted him to find the sound they didn’t know they were looking for. He founded Mad Decent in 2006 as a home for exactly that kind of restless curiosity — a label that has introduced underground sounds to global audiences without asking them to compromise.
