About

November 28. Kangding Ray returns to Toronto after eight years. David Letellier began releasing music as Kangding Ray in the mid-2000s, developing a sound that drew from experimental electronics, ambient and the heavier edges of techno. His early work on Raster-Noton established a fascination with texture, rhythm and the relationship between electronic sound and physical space. Records like Solens Arc and Cory Arcane pushed that approach further, while his releases on Stroboscopic Artefacts and the launch of his own ara imprint brought his music increasingly into the club. In 2024, he released Zero, continuing his exploration of rhythm, atmosphere and detailed sound design. More recently, he composed the soundtrack for Óliver Laxe's Sirât, a film set against the backdrop of Morocco's desert rave scene. The score won the Cannes Soundtrack Award and earned a Golden Globe nomination, bringing his work to an entirely new audience. For this long-awaited return, Kangding Ray joins us for a DJ set alongside Toronto-based artists Ciel, Noa and Daragma. Visuals by Karl Skene.
